Blazer Game Volunteer Group Update

Hello Om Thrive Volunteer Group! Thank you for everyone who showed up to our first volunteer meeting yesterday at Blend Coffee. We will continue to gather there for future meetings.

Below are a few things I wanted to recap for those who could not attend, as well as deadlines for our group to move forward with this fundraising opportunity. Please email me when you have completed the OLCC and food handlers training so we can schedule our group training.

Group Eligibility Requirements

  • Must have a recommended 25 participating members over the age of 18

  • Must be able to commit to staffing a minimum of 1 Blazer Game per month throughout the term of the volunteer agreement (1 year), with 2 Blazer games per month preferred

  • Must have a leader and co-leader who are the designated contact people for your group

Training Requirements

  • Stand Leader and Volunteer Training – Group Leaders and Volunteers who will be in charge of the group concession stand are required to attend a 3 hour leader training session.

  • OLCC Alcohol Servers Education Class ($45) – Volunteers are required to take this 1.5 hour online class and pass a test in order to receive certification.

  • Fees – $15 Alcohol Server Class, $13 Alcohol Education Administration Fee, $10 Service Permit Fee, $5.65 Portal Provider Fee. Total fees = $43.65


  • Alcohol Servers Permit Portal

  • Deadline – 11/1/2018

  • Oregon Food Handlers Card ($9) – Volunteers 16+ must obtain their Oregon Food Handlers card. This is a 1 hour online test.

  • Fees – $9.00


  • Deadline – 11/1/2018

  • Background Check (Free) – All volunteers must submit and pass a background check prior to their first event. Felonies are not accepted. Misdemeanors that relate to theft or sexual assault are not accepted.

  • Levy Alcohol Online Training (Free) – All volunteers must take a 1 hour online Levy Restaurants alcohol service class.

Work Shift

  • Arrival and Departure – Volunteers arrive 90 minutes before the event starts and stay about 30 minutes after the event ends. Shifts average 4-6 hours depending on the type of event.

  • Parking – Parking is free to volunteers working events.  It is recommended that groups travel by carpool.

  • Uniforms – Volunteers are expected to wear the following: Black pants, Black slip resistant closed toe/heel shoes, Visor/baseball cap (Provided by Om Thrive), Volunteer T-Shirt (Provided by Om Thrive)

  • Meals – Free meal every game for every volunteer
