PDX Events: Rose City Wellness Week

Portland's nickname (Rose City) was inspired by a small gesture of generosity. A man allowing neighbors to freely clip roses from his front yard, and by doing so, changed the landscape of this city forever. Native or transplant we are all connected by the city we live in. We want to encourage individuals to take small steps to be kinder, not only to each other but especially to themselves.

September 17th will kick-off a week-long series of experiences activated and led by Masters in Health & Wellness. These programs will focus on six dimensions of holistic wellness (Physical, Emotional, Intellectual, Social, Spiritual, and Environmental). Throughout the week there will be opportunities to engage and learn how movement, art, social interactions, music, education, and food play into our overall well-being.

She attended the Idyllwild Arts academy and graduated with honors, spending her summers training with Gelsey Kirkland. In 2006, Andrea moved to Seattle. In Seattle she appeared in works by Deb Wolf, Rainbow Fletcher, Zoe Scofield, and Lauren Edson, among others. Andrea danced with Coriolis Dance Collective for 6 years, during which time the Seattle Times called her a, "diminutive dynamo," (2012) and her choreography, "the most succinct and dynamic in the show," (2013). Andrea's class emphasizes linking breath with movement and encourages students to make choices in their flow that best serve their needs.
